Dentistry for Kids

What will happen at my child’s first appointment?
At a child’s first appointment, we might not even look in their mouth. For a 2- or 3-year-old, a trip to the dentist is primarily about becoming familiar with their dentist, sitting in the chair, and gradually interacting with the equipment they’ll see regularly throughout their childhood and adolescence. Additionally, the team at Seven Lakes Dental allows kids the opportunity to give themselves a sip of water with the water hose and to see, hear, and feel “Mr. Tickle,” helping them learn without the fear of what might happen next.

How will I be involved?
At a very young age, dentistry for kids is not only about educating the child but also about educating the parent. Once we’ve gained your child’s trust and helped them open up, we will then talk with you about what we observe and what it means. In addition, we want to help you take an active role in your child’s dental care.
Of course we teach your 5 or 6 year old how to brush their teeth and why oral health is important, but your involvement is crucial to help build healthy dental habits that will last your child a lifetime. The Seven Lakes Dental is here to help equip you for that task.
What do I do as my child grows up?
As children grow into pre-teens and teenagers, our conversation with them changes – it becomes much more age specific. Your child’s priorities may shift, but we’re there to explain what may happen when looking cool comes before wearing that protective mouthguard during football practice, or when texting becomes more important than flossing.
If you need a kids dentist in Smokey Point, WA, Seven Lakes Dental is ready to be your ally in all stages of your child’s growth.
